The world’s leading industrial metals market will offer exclusive training in the province as part of a broader strategy to position Mendoza as a regional financial hub.
The London Metal Exchange (LME), the leading global reference in industrial metals trading and price formation, will visit Mendoza from August 6th to 8th for the in-person course “Introduction to the LME and Hedging with Financial Derivatives.”
The training targets entrepreneurs, service providers, mining, industrial, and financial professionals. It is part of the Impulsando el Financiamiento (Promoting Financing) program, an initiative of Impulsa Mendoza that seeks to consolidate the province as a financial and mining hub in Latin America.
The course does not require prior experience. Over three intensive days, participants will acquire essential tools for operating in global markets, including training in international metal prices,
using futures and options, physical contracts and analyzing of real cases. LME trainer Dr. Jorge Eduardo Dyszel, who has been involved in the industry for 43 years, will teach the course. The program includes materials in Spanish, practical exercises, and an international certificate of attendance.
A financial hub with competitive advantages
Mendoza is moving forward with more than 100 mining exploration projects underway or about to begin, and is committed to replicating successful financing models such as those in Canada and Australia. Along the way, it has already forged strategic links with international players such as the TSX (Toronto Stock Exchange), BYMA, and now the LME, in addition to the creative participation of banks, market agents, and mutual guarantee companies.
“Knowledge, sustainability, and openness to the world position Mendoza as a reliable partner for the future mining development,” said Sebastián Piña, CFO of Impulsa Mendoza. “Without capital markets, there is no exploration, and without exploration, there is no mining. Mendoza has unique comparative advantages to lead this process.”
In April this year, the province hosted the Toronto Stock Exchange’s first Latin American business roundtable, bringing together international investors, experts, and entrepreneurs. At the same time, collaboration with the National University of Cuyo is advancing a technical study to consolidate a roadmap toward a world-class regional financial hub.
An expanding ecosystem: partnership with the stock exchange

The arrival of the LME in Mendoza is part of a broader process of institutional strengthening. In May, Impulsa Mendoza signed a cooperation agreement with the Mendoza Stock Exchange to create a mechanism to facilitate access to productive financing, increase the sector’s visibility, and lay the foundations for a financial ecosystem capable of sustaining the development of modern and sustainable mining.
“The agreement with the Stock Exchange represents a decisive step. We are laying the foundation to transform Mendoza into a financial center capable of channeling savings into productive investments that enhance the entire mining value chain,” said Manuel Sánchez Bandini, Sub-secretary of Energy and Mining and President of Impulsa Mendoza.
The agreement establishes a technical and institutional collaboration framework to design innovative financial instruments, training programs, and visibility strategies geared explicitly towards local mining development. Among the planned products is to create a Closed-End Fund with a Public Offering to finance the early stages of exploration and the growth of suppliers in the sector.
