Latorre Participates in Nasdaq Opening and Meets with Executives to Promote Energy and Mining Investment in Mendoza

New York — Mendoza’s Minister of Energy and Environment, Jimena Latorre, took part in the opening ceremony of the Nasdaq MarketSite in Times Square as part of the Argentina Week agenda in New York. During the visit, she also held meetings with Nasdaq executives to discuss investment opportunities related to renewable energy and mining projects in Mendoza.

Latorre attended the iconic Nasdaq opening bell ceremony alongside Sebastián Piña, CEO of Impulsa Mendoza, as well as Claudio Zuchovicki, president of BYMA (Bolsas y Mercados Argentinos), and Gonzalo Pascual Merlo, the organization’s CEO. The event officially marks the start of the trading day at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time and regularly features corporate leaders, institutional representatives and prominent figures from the global financial ecosystem.

The participation of Mendoza’s delegation in this event is part of the province’s broader strategy to strengthen its international positioning and promote investment, particularly in sectors linked to energy, mining and infrastructure development.

Following the ceremony, Minister Latorre held a working meeting with Nasdaq authorities.

“We attended the Nasdaq opening ceremony and later held a meeting with Jameel Johnson, Vice President, and Edward S. Knight, Executive Vice Chairman of Nasdaq,” Latorre explained.

The discussions focused on the strategic relationship between the global technology sector and the development of projects related to natural resources and the energy transition.

“Nasdaq’s main clients are technology companies, and technology companies are also the largest consumers of minerals. So we discussed how to build the ecosystem needed to attract investments that will drive mining and energy projects, which are essential for the growth and expansion of technology companies worldwide,” the minister said.

She also highlighted that Nasdaq represents an important platform for financing opportunities for mining projects.

The Mendoza delegation, accompanying Governor Alfredo Cornejo during Argentina Week, is scheduled to present several investment opportunities in strategic sectors of the provincial economy. These initiatives—linked to energy, mining, infrastructure and the energy transition—require significant international financing and are being presented to investment funds, banks and financial market operators participating in the New York agenda.

Nasdaq (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) is the second-largest electronic stock exchange in the United States after the New York Stock Exchange. It is known for its strong connection to technology and innovation-driven companies and currently hosts more than 3,800 listed firms.

Its main indices include the Nasdaq Composite and the Nasdaq-100, which track some of the most influential companies in the global technology sector.
