Mendoza Expands Its Productive and Clean Energy Matrix with the Inauguration of Anchoris Solar Park

Mendoza continues to expand its clean energy and productive matrix with the inauguration of Anchoris Solar Park, a new photovoltaic development located in Luján de Cuyo and executed by Genneia. The project required an investment of USD 160 million and adds 180 MW of installed capacity to the provincial grid, further positioning Mendoza as one of Argentina’s leading provinces in privately funded solar energy projects.

Governor Alfredo Cornejo, joined by Genneia Chairman Jorge Brito and CEO Bernardo Andrews, led the inauguration ceremony of the strategic project, which reinforces Mendoza’s commitment to a more diversified, sustainable, and competitive energy matrix.

They were accompanied by Minister of Energy and Environment Jimena Latorre; Minister of Government, Infrastructure and Territorial Development Natalio Mema; Mayor of Luján de Cuyo Esteban Allasino; and Genneia shareholder Francisco Sersale, along with provincial energy authorities and regulatory officials.

Anchoris was originally planned by Mendoza’s state energy company Emesa and later developed and executed by Genneia. With 180 MW of installed capacity, the park is designed to supply large industrial users under Argentina’s Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER). It represents Genneia’s second photovoltaic development in Mendoza and one of the most significant solar projects in the Cuyo region.

Strengthening Mendoza’s Energy Leadership

Governor Cornejo highlighted the USD 160 million investment and emphasized that projects of this scale consolidate Mendoza’s role as a reference point in Argentina’s energy transition. The park is equipped with 360,000 state-of-the-art bifacial solar panels and will generate approximately 497,000 MWh of renewable energy annually.

According to provincial estimates, the facility will supply electricity equivalent to the consumption of 125,000 households and prevent the emission of more than 220,000 tons of CO₂ per year. It will also enhance the sustainability profile of both traditional industries and emerging productive sectors in the province.

Cornejo stressed that initiatives like Anchoris expand not only Mendoza’s clean energy matrix but also its broader productive base. “This reaffirms our commitment to a more sustainable environment, supported by projects that are economically viable,” he said.

At peak construction, the project generated 350 jobs, most of them filled by Mendoza residents.

The governor also outlined the province’s growing solar portfolio, including Malargüe I (90 MW), San Rafael I (180 MW), Solar de los Andes in Santa Rosa (5 MW), El Quemado in Las Heras (305 MW, with 200 MW currently operating), PS Pasip in San Martín (1.2 MW), Santa Rosa I and II (10.2 MW), and Cooperote I (3 MW, with expansion plans). He further noted the upcoming Mendoza Sur (Diamante) Solar Park, which will add 345 MW and is expected to enter operation in 2029.

With projects currently under construction and in planning stages, Mendoza expects to surpass 700 MW of installed solar capacity this year and exceed 1,000 MW in the coming years, consolidating its leadership in privately financed solar infrastructure.

Clear Rules and Investment Predictability

Mayor Esteban Allasino underscored the importance of regulatory stability for long-term projects. “None of the panels installed here can simply be picked up and relocated,” he said, emphasizing that public authorities must provide clear rules and predictable conditions for investors.

He argued that sustainable development requires stable policies that transcend electoral cycles, allowing private investors to commit capital with confidence.

A Catalyst for New Opportunities

During the ceremony, Genneia CEO Bernardo Andrews highlighted the collaborative effort that made the project possible, including coordination between provincial authorities, regulators, Cammesa, contractors, clients, and the local community.

He described Anchoris as one of the largest solar parks in Argentina and a tangible example of Mendoza’s energy transition. “This represents years of institutional work and long-term vision,” Andrews said.

Genneia currently supplies renewable energy to 80 clients from its Mendoza facilities and now operates 630 MW in the Cuyo region. With additional projects in San Rafael and southern San Juan, the company expects to reach 800 MW in the region. Since 2016, Genneia has built 1,700 MW nationwide, with total investments exceeding USD 2 billion.

Strategic Expansion of Solar Infrastructure

Anchoris Solar Park features advanced bifacial modules designed to maximize efficiency and energy output. Beyond its environmental benefits, the project strengthens grid stability and supports industrial demand, reinforcing Mendoza’s strategy to attract productive investments tied to reliable clean energy supply.

Minister Jimena Latorre emphasized that the province continues to consolidate structural progress in renewable energy development. With multiple solar parks in operation and others in execution or planning stages, Mendoza is building a diversified and competitive energy system aligned with global decarbonization trends.

As solar capacity expands, the province is positioning itself as a strategic hub for clean energy supply to industry, mining, and broader productive growth—demonstrating that energy transition and economic development can advance together.
