Governor of Mendoza Alfredo Cornejo Takes Part in Opening of Argentina Week 2026 High-Level Sessions in New York

Alfredo Cornejo joined the Argentine delegation led by President Javier Milei for the opening of the high-level sessions of Argentina Week 2026 in New York, an event designed to promote international investment and strengthen ties with major global financial institutions.

The meeting brought together provincial governors, national officials and leading figures from the international financial sector to present Argentina’s economic outlook and investment opportunities.

The event was formally opened by President Javier Milei, who arrived alongside Governor Cornejo and addressed an audience of more than 200 investors, bankers and executives from some of the world’s most influential companies. The opening session took place at the JPMorgan building on Park Avenue, one of New York City’s main financial hubs.

Argentina Week is supported by major international financial institutions including JPMorgan, Bank of America and Citibank. The initiative seeks to position Argentina as an attractive destination for global capital amid the country’s economic reforms and renewed engagement with international markets.

Presenting Argentina’s economic agenda to global investors

During the second day of the event’s agenda, Cornejo attended President Milei’s presentation at the opening of the high-level sessions—one of the central moments of Argentina Week—before an audience of business leaders, corporate executives and investment funds.

In his remarks, President Milei outlined the key pillars of his government’s economic program in a forum that gathers decision-makers from across the global investment community.

The event also served to reinforce Argentina’s visibility within major international financial networks and to create a platform for direct dialogue with key actors in the global economic system. For Argentina’s provinces, such gatherings provide an opportunity to observe how the country is once again positioning itself within international discussions on development, investment and economic growth.

The day’s agenda also included a meeting between President Milei and JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon, one of the most influential figures in global finance.

Governor Cornejo was part of the delegation of Argentine provincial leaders attending the event alongside national government officials.

Other governors present included Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), Martín Llaryora (Córdoba), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro), Ignacio Torres (Chubut), Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz) and Juan Pablo Valdés (Corrientes).

Following the event, Cornejo offered an assessment of President Milei’s remarks and described Argentina’s participation in the international forum as positive, highlighting the strong interest shown by different sectors in investing in both the country and the province of Mendoza.

He noted that the meeting was organized by several institutions that played an active role in the discussions and emphasized the importance of collaboration among the different actors present.

“I see it as positive because of the coordination achieved among the various participants,” he said.

A message of economic transformation

Cornejo also referred to President Milei’s address to investors and business leaders, explaining that the message was consistent with what the national government has been communicating about Argentina’s economic direction.

“It is a message that we Argentines already know,” he said, adding that the President conveyed to the international audience that “Argentina is opening up, that it wants to change definitively and that it seeks to provide certainty.”

According to the governor, forums like Argentina Week allow the country to demonstrate the economic transformation currently underway.

“Argentina is changing its economic model and its economic paradigm with new rules of the game,” he said. “This forum allows us to present those changes and provide certainty.”

Cornejo also highlighted President Milei’s ability to communicate the government’s economic agenda to international audiences.

“He is a good communicator of these changes and has the credibility needed to influence major investors in certain sectors,” he said.

Opportunities for Mendoza

Regarding investment opportunities in Mendoza, Cornejo explained that the province is working to position itself before international investors in several strategic sectors.

“Mendoza offers opportunities in both conventional and unconventional oil, in copper mining and in tourism—particularly wine and gastronomic tourism,” he said, noting that these sectors require significant capital investment to expand.

Argentina Week was organized by Argentina’s Ambassador to the United States, Alec Oxenford, together with the economic team led by Economy Minister Luis Caputo. The initiative aims to create a direct dialogue between Argentine authorities and international financial leaders in order to expand investment opportunities and strengthen economic ties with global markets.
